Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and the other young ladies of London high society have been trained since birth to secure a match. When there's not a single engagement announcement during the social season, the gossips get impatient. Seated next to her brother's rakish friend Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page) at a fancy dinner party, Daphne lets him know she's heard all about his escapades and is not interested.

Lady Whistledown writes her Society Papers, in which she offers gossip about all the wealthy people in the area. In her latest edition, she declares Daphne all but ineligible for a match, leaving Daphne to worry that she will be ruined if she never finds a husband. Simon offers to help her by pretending that they have formed an attachment. That will ensure that every mother who wants him for her daughter will leave him alone and in turn, every suitor will be looking at Daphne. Meanwhile, Lady Whistledown ensures her readers that if there is a scandal, she will uncover it.

Inspired by Julia Quinn's bestselling novels.
